Youth Pride Party: Pizza + Crafts
Registration is encouraged, so we know how much pizza to get!
Teens & pre-teens ages 11 and up — join us for a fun afternoon of Pride-themed crafting and activities! Craft a mask to wear at Pride (Saturday, June 6) or just for fun. We’ll have a couple other activities, Pride-themed book displays, and a suggestion box for books and programs you’d like to see at the Library.

Queer Art Show "Hello My Name Is" Artist Opening Party
The Hearth Gallery (Bowen Island Arts Council), partnering with Bowen Pride Society, is planning Bowen Pride Festival (2026), a community-based and multidisciplinary festival featuring a dynamic mix of art exhibitions and cultural events to celebrate LGBTQIA+ identities and lives as well as the coming-together of the community that we all belong to.

Speak the Spark - “Out of the Blue”
Bowen's own storytelling night, where Islanders come to tell and listen to each other's stories. The stories must be true, about the storyteller and 10 minutes max! The theme will be “Out of the Blue” and will feature stories from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community as part of the Pride Festival this year.

People's Prom
SORRY, IT’S SOLD OUT! First Annual Bowen Island People’s Prom
The People’s Prom is a joyful, inclusive dance party where you get to reimagine, relive or reclaim prom. However you like!
It’s a fundraiser for the Bowen Island Pride Society, inspired by a legendary east van valentine’s tradition. Dress in ridiculous, retro, sparkly prom gear (or whatever makes you feel fabulous). Come with a date, with friends, or solo. Everyone belongs on this dance floor.
Expect DJ Jamie Nesbitt, DJ Sarahtonin and DJ Big Rube to present nonstop dancefloor bangers, retro throwbacks, slow dances, dance-offs, surprises, prizes, and yes…careless whisper will probably be played.
Friday Night Dinner
We're cooking Friday night dinner at the Legion again! Join us for a delicious meal of pierogies, sausage or tofu, coleslaw, and a special dessert. This Friday, January 16. Doors at 5:30. We look forward to seeing you there!
Rocky Horror Picture Show (19+)

The cult classic is back — are you ready to Time Warp with us?
We’re teaming up with the raddest community recreation folks to bring The Rocky Horror Picture Show to the big screen in the Bowen Theatre for the very first time on it's 50th Anniversary! Get ready for an unforgettable night of music, madness, and mayhem. Whether you're a seasoned Transexual Transylvanian or a curious virgin, this iconic cult classic promises an experience like no other - complete with costumes, callbacks, and interactive chaos.
Costumes are strongly encouraged! This is a 19+ event with drinkypoos available for purchase. Proceeds from bar sales will go towards next year’s Pride Parade & Picnic and other Pride community events.
